Belmont Shore is located in Long Beach, California, just 30min south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and 2 hours north of San Diego.

Thanks to a very consistent thermal wind blowing daily in the summer months and a very wide beach with no shorebreak, Belmont Shore has become the best kitesurfing spot in Southern California for beginners and flat water freestyle riders.

For kitesurfers, parking is always available on the metered beach parking lots located next to Claremont Ramp, or across from Laverne Avenue.

WIND

The best season for the wind is summer months when the wind usually blows daily side-onshore from 2PM to 5PM at 12-18 knots.

WATER

Water temperature is around 70 degrees F during the summer, but a spring wetsuit is generally recommended.
Water is usually flat to little choppy with no shorebreak.

Warm water attracts stingrays, so make sure you shuffle your feet when entering and exiting the water.
